Run through of the Reports section
The reports section is designed to produce a more tabular output for the data available on Singlepoint. It does not aim to provide the same level of interactivity as both the Instant and Custom Maps Sections, instead displaying tables of data along with charts and graphs as required. It can also facilitate the production of static 2D maps, though these are dependent on the datasets chosen.

The Reports section is designed into a series of pages, which are best thought of as steps. Below is a run through of these steps: -

Step 1. Select the areas you wish to profile

This first step is designed to allow the user to first select the area they are interested in seeing. An indicator near the top of the page ('Current Progress') is indicative of how far along a user is in the process.

  • Area Type - this drop down list contains the different typesof geography available on Singlepoint, and will determine the list of geographies you see in the box below. It begins with District, the highest level of geography, with the smallest geogaphy Census Output Areas (or COA) at the bottom.

  • Area - from here, choose the name of the geography you would like to see. By holding down the shift or CTRL keys on your keyboard you can select multiple areas to display in the same table or chart. You can also select all the areas corresponding to that geography by clicking the 'Select all' checkbox, but please note that how many you choose will also show up on the final output table (8358 Census Output Areas will take a long time to read!). Once you have chosen the appropriate areas, click 'Next'.

    Step 2. Select Dataset

  • The Search and Categories function - You will need to choose 'Categories' on the left hand side of the screen to view the different types of datasets available. Once you have chosen a category of data, a list will be displayed on the right hand side indicating the different data you can display as an end product.

    Step 3. Select Comparators

When Singlepoint refers to 'Comparators', it is asking whether you would like to compare the numbers for the areas you have chosen with the gross figures for the parent of that area. Therefore, if you ask to see a count of a particular type of data for a ward, it may offer here to let you see the total for the district, in order to make a comparison between the two. If previously you have selected areas from a number of parent geographies, all options will be displayed here. If you do not want to see these in your tables/charts, simply press 'View Report'.

    Step 4. Output Report

Following completion of Steps 1 through 3, the final report will be displayed with a chart underneath. You can download the table by clicking the 'Download' button to the right.
